We love a good welcome basket, and even more, we love a really good story. we found both at sara's gracious goodies — a gift package service located in long island, NY

First, the baskets. with incredible resources like chocolove, delancey dessert company and crumb's bake shop, sara's baskets are lush, bountiful and absolutely delicious. They are the perfect way to welcome weary travelers and special guests after the long journey to their hotel.

Not only are the treats fabulous, you have the option of packing them in clever totes — like these, designed with maps of the five burroughs of new york. Utterly adorable.

As for the story? As sara was expecting her first child, she and her husband travelled across the country for a wedding. Exhausted and hungry from a long ordeal, they were met by a welcome bag that unfortunately added to the misery of a long days travel {oh, we've been there}.

It was in that moment that sara knew that there could be a better and more fulfilling way to greet a weary and tired loved one. Sara got back from her trip, told all of her ideas to her mom and together they created Sara’s Gracious Goodies.

We're so glad they did.

If you’re in need of hotel amenity packages for your out-of-town guests, then Sara Mendelsohn of Sara’s Gracious Goodies is your go-to woman.

Since so many friends and family were coming into New York for my wedding last week, I decided that I should do something special for them. Not only to show them my appreciation for coming for my wedding but to give them some treats to make the weekend that much sweeter. In order to create welcome bags for 40 guests in four different hotels, I knew I needed to call in reinforcements! Sara’s Gracious Goodies created wonderful welcome bags which they hand delivered to hotels throughout New York City and Long Island. They customized the tote bags to my exact specifications, giving me helpful tips and insight along the way. They also included all of the extras that I requested, such as the wedding weekend itinerary and some New York travel guides and books. Not only was Sara a pleasure to work with, but she was readily accessible, open to my ideas and input and really did go the extra mile to ensure these bags were special for all of my guests.

Sara Mendelsohn, who worked in planning and development for luxury retailers like Barneys New York, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Cartier, dreamed up this gem of a company when she was greeted with a less then stellar welcome bag as a guest at a wedding. Together with her mother, Sara sought out to revolutionize the hotel amenity package industry; and she has been quite successful, as can be seen in the growth of her press page. Tips from ME on The Wedding Chicks!

Today it is officially Winter and hopefully all of you have your gifts in order and are ready to celebrate with family friends. I know that Amy and I are ready to do some serious gift giving.

Speaking of gifts… if you are having an out of town guest a Custom Welcome Tote is a spectacular way to greet your loved ones and thank them for sharing this special day with you.

It helps to include products that are signature to your home town. For example, in NY I often include a cupcake from the famous Crumbs Bakery, a Black and White Cookie that are a NY staple and popcorn from The Hampton Popcorn Factory since everyone in and outside of NY has heard the Hamptons buzz.

To add something even more special (and free!) you can include menus of some of your favorite local restaurants. An emergency kit that includes such necessities as Aspirin, Mouthwash, and a nail file would be thoughtful as well. For something DIY you can customize a personal “Do Not Disturb… recovering from Sara & Brian’s Wedding” sign for guests to use after their amazing night at your wedding! You can easily find these templates online or at your local craft store.

"As a Wedding Planner my clients are always asking me about ways they can honor their guests if they are traveling. The answer is usually Goodies Bags left at the Hotels the guests are staying at.
